I say, "bullshit." Doing makes teaching better, and teaching makes doing better. Do AND teach if you possibly can.

hahahahahaha!

the struggle - if i spend time on teaching writing - my own writing practice suffers.

blogging, to me, has been the answer. i try to create something (oh and it is sometimes crap) every day. i set aside time as well to work my poetry (also often crap).

what i don't seem to have time to do is write longer pieces - expository pieces - or creative nonfiction.

but i wanted to add - savage - there is a certain bitterness in your tone - and it sounds like there's a backstory - an interesting backstory.

You commit the cardinal sin-Looking for the artist in the art. Of course there's a back story, but it might take me 32+ years to tell it.

but the artist is always in the art - somewhere, somehow.

if it's gonna take you 32+ years to tell the tale, you'd best get started on the work. hahahaha! save some time from teaching - don't let those students suck you dry. i'm off to read your new post now.
